5 Minute Read2025 Memorial Tournament Preview, PGA Tour Best Bets at Muirfield
The Memorial Tournament marks the latest Signature Event on the PGA Tour this week. Hosted at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, this lengthy and difficult par 72 course was constructed by Jack Nicklaus and Desmond Muirhead in 1974.
This is the 50th anniversary of the Memorial Tournament, so it's fitting that World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler returns to defend his title. Viktor Hovland won this event in 2023 at 7-under-par, while Scheffler carded a one stroke win over Collin Morikawa in 2024 at 8-under-par. These winning scorecards indicate just how much carnage awaits the 72 golfers who qualified to compete in this Signature Event field at "Jack's Place."
PGA handicapper Matt MacKay is ready for a bounce-back at Muirfield, with three best bets, each worth one unit, to tail ahead of Round 1 on Thursday morning. Follow Matt's X account for more PGA betting analysis and free picks throughout the 2025 PGA Tour season.

PGA Best Bets: 2025 Memorial Tournament
Top 40 Finish
We'll dive into the Top 40 Finish market and back Nick Taylor to post a T40 finish or better at Muirfield this week. The 37-year-old Canadian has two top 10 finishes in 2025, including an outright win during a playoff at the Sony Open in Hawaii back in January.
Taylor posted a T27 finish at the 2024 Memorial Tournament and is coming off of his worst performance in May at Quail Hollow Club, missing the cut at +6. He's had a week off to prepare for Muirfield and ranks 12th SG: Approach, 19th in driving accuracy and 29th proximity.
Staying accurate tee-to-green will allow Taylor to climb the leaderboard. Let's bet a unit on Taylor to log his 10th top 40 finish at the Memorial Tournament.

18 Hole Matchups - Round 1: Matt Fitzpatrick (-115) vs. Keegan Bradley (-110)
Looking for early action on Thursday during Round 1? Matt Fitzpatrick and Keegan Bradley are going head-to-head in an 18 hole matchup prop, with Fitzpatrick a slight betting favorite at -115 odds.
Fitzpatrick is trending up in May, going T23 at the Truist Championship (Signature Event), while last carding a T8 finish at the PGA Championship. Bradley also matched Fitzpatrick's T8 finish at Quail Hollow two weeks ago, building off a T30 at Truist.
Fitzpatrick managed a T5 finish at Muirfield in 2024 thanks to a 3-under-par surge in Round 4. Bradley logged a +9 final score, yielding a T43 finish.
The Englishman ranks 11th on approach shots from 200+ yards. This will be an integral piece of Fitzpatrick's game to create birdie opportunities and avoid bogeys on the lengthy par 4s that await at Muirfield.
Bradley is a top 20 player on par 4 holes this season, while sitting 34th in putting average and 17th total strokes gained. He's a tactician tee-to-green but ranks 148th SG: Putting.
Fitzpatrick's weakness is also the flat stick, so this prop comes down to accuracy. Bradley is 164th on approach shots from 200+ yards in 2025. It's this difference that will allow Fitzpatrick to fire a lower score in Round 1 than Bradley.
Let's toss another unit on Matt Fitzpatrick to beat Keegan Bradley in Round 1 at -115 odds.
- Best Bet: Matt Fitzpatrick (-115)
Top 10 Finish
We're getting great value on Sepp Straka in the Top 10 Finish betting market at +280 odds. He's already got two wins on the PGA Tour in 2025, including at the Truist Championship in Philadelphia earlier this month.
The Austrian has a lot of impressive metrics with his current game on the course, including fifth in total strokes gained, second SG: Approach, first for greens in regulation percentage, second proximity, 11th driving accuracy and ninth putting average.
Straka is second in scoring average and birdie average, 12th on par 4s, 17th on approach shots from 200+ yards and 18th at sand save percentage. There's not enough accolades for Straka in his return to Muirfield, where he logged a T5 finish last year.
He's got four top 10 finishes, with two of those turning into outright wins. The other two top 10s came at Pebble Beach and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Let's bet one final unit on Sepp Straka to record a Top 10 Finish at +280 odds to take advantage of his career year on the PGA Tour.
