We are back with another night of puck as yesterday's frozen frenzy leaves us just one game today. The 1-3-1 Washington Capitals are in Newark for a clash with the 3-1-1 Devils, and I expect a good game tonight. Primetime TNT games tend to not disappoint, and I like this matchup between these squads. Both squads played yesterday so I expect backups in net, and for that reason I am okay with trusting Washington to contribute tonight.

Washington Capitals vs. New Jersey Devils Prediction
Through five games this season, Washington is currently sporting the worst offensive unit in the league scoring just 1.18 GPG. The Capitals are not the team they were a few years back, and I do not expect anything crazy from them this year. But they are still an NHL team with some firepower, and the pendulum will eventually swing back the other way. They are due for a night in which they put a couple biscuits in the back of the net, and New Jersey is a perfect team to do it against.
On the flip side, the Devils are a very potent squad that plays with a lot of energy and pace, and are capable of running up the score all by themselves. All five games they have played thus far have gone over, and they are scoring in bunches. They currently rank sixth-best in the league for GPG at 3.91, and I think they keep burying the puck tonight.
