Los Angeles Kings vs. Colorado Avalanche Prediction
Colorado has just been on another planet in the offensive scheme of things. Not only are they the number one ranked team in the league offensively at 3.81 GPG (they jumped Vancouver in the past week), but they are without question the hottest team offensively in the month of January. Over their last five games, they have scored 25 goals. Over their last 11 they have scored 51, which comes out to a 4.63 GPG average. Los Angeles is not the worst team in the league and you wouldn't expect them to give up five in this one, but with how poorly they have played lately and how unstoppable the Avalanche look, they just might.
10 of the last 11 games Colorado has played in have seen seven plus goals, and that is because they are all being played with pace and intensity, the big bonus is precision. Any team can try to force the issue like Colorado does, but you need the superstars to execute it, and they have plenty of them. Nathan McKinnon, Mikko Rantanen, and Cale Makar have been otherworldly as of late, and should continue to be.
With that said, Los Angeles needs to right the ship fast. After an electric start to the season, they now find themselves barely hanging on to the fourth playoff spot in the Pacific and they have lost four of their last five games. They need to start getting after it again, and Colorado will take their best effort.
