Well we are finally back, the second half of the NHL season kicks off tonight as we return from the All Star Break and we start with a great matchup here. The Colorado Avalanche (32-14-3) are heading to New York City tonight for a clash with the Rangers (30-16-3) that should produce fireworks at MSG.

Colorado Avalanche vs. New York Rangers Prediction
I think both squads come out firing here in the first game back from break. Colorado is leading the league with a stellar 3.84 GPG average and a lethal power play. Multiple of the super stars that lead that squad participated in the all star game over the weekend, most notably Nathan McKinnon and Cale Makar, the backbone of this Avs squad.
This team has the core that won the Stanley Cup and it's primary supporting cast members are all still there, so this team is elite and I do not think they take their foot off the gas whatsoever here. New York has plenty of talent and can score but will undoubtedly have their hands full tonight.
We also have backup net minders going for both squads here after both teams number ones played and traveled for the ASB this weekend. Jonathan Quick has been quite exceptional this year if we are being honest, the veterans resurgence has been very much a factor of success for New York this season and he is not a fade guy by any means.
With that said, they are now facing the best offense in the league fresh off a break with second half motivations fueling the game tonight. It's a road game tonight for Colorado too but when you play on big stages that is always a boost as well and Madison Square Garden surely fits that standard.
