We are back baby! Our first big slate of the second half of the season is here and I am ready to sink my teeth into the stretch here. The Colorado Avalanche (32-14-4) are visiting the New Jersey Devils (24-20-3) for this one and I expect the lamp to be lit often.

Well the Avalanche played in a rare low-scoring affair last night in a 2-1 loss at Madison Square Garden and now head to Newark for the second leg of the back-to-back but that does not phase me at all here, it is actually a massive advantage. Everyone got their rest which is great, actually necessary for these guys in a long season puts so much stress on your body physically; with that said, now it is not about rest, it is about rust.
The Avalanche superstars all played over the weekend and despite losing last night, the rest of the squad looked pretty solid in a game they led late into the third. I like the intensity Colorado had late and that should roll into tonight against the Devils.
Colorado leads the league with 189 goals through 50 games for a stellar 3.74 GPG average. New Jersey has no issues scoring themselves sitting right around the top ten at 3.43 GPG.
The problem for the Devils is they can't stop a nose bleed and have struggled on the back end all season long. They are conceding at a rate that finds them fourth worst in the league with a 3.53 GAA and now they face a Colorado squad that does not lose back-to-back often. I think this is a high energy spot and both squads get after it tonight.
