The Avalanche and Jets will meet in the Ball Arena in Colorado for Game 3 of the first round of the Stanley Cup playoffs tonight. Colorado and Winnipeg have split the first two games of the series in some high-scoring games, with the Jets taking Game 1 winning 7–6 and the Avalanche responding in Game 2 by winning 5–2. WINNIPEG JETS VS. COLORADO AVALANCHE GAME 3 PREDICTION
The offenses have been hot to start the postseason in this series, with Cale Makar of the Avalanche leading the way with five points in the first two games. The Jets have had balanced scoring and have gotten four points from both Kyle Connor and Mark Scheifele over the first two games. Makar and Rantanen have been racking up the assists with four and three apiece. If you are a fan of offense, this series is the one for you, as we have seen 20 goals across the first two games.
This is a tough spot for the Winnipeg Jets as they will travel to the highest altitude stadium in the NHL and face a high-flying Avalanche offense. Not many teams travel to Colorado and come away with wins. The Avalanche were the best team at home in the NHL this season, going 31–9-1 on their home ice this year. While the Jets were good on the road, it is just different playing in Ball Arena.
With how fast-paced this series has been so far, I like the avalanche to respond in game three and take a commanding 2-1 series lead. The Avalanche are very acclimated to the altitude on their home ice and will be the much fresher team in the late second and third periods. I think the Avalanche put a lot of pressure on Connor Hellebuyck in this game and breakthrough for a big win at home. I'm taking them to win in regulation, though, to knock off some of the juice we have to pay here and get even money.
