The Tampa Bay Lightning will face off with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Monday night for a classic Eastern Conference grudge match. Both teams are coming in with three wins, but are both arriving off of a loss on Saturday.

The Maple Leafs saw their three-game win streak come to an end when the Rangers upset them on Saturday night at home. They couldn't get much going on offense, and fell 4-1 to a very strong side out of New York.

Tampa Bay is also coming in after an unfortunate loss to the Senators over the weekend that saw their undefeated start come to an end. They have performed well in all four games, but were just edged out on the road as four goals wasn't enough to win it.

These two teams don't like each other very much, as a result of many first round playoff series over the last decade. The Lightning had largely dominated the Leafs until Toronto finally snapped the curse this past spring. They weren't able to advance much further in the Stanley Cup Playoffs however, and both teams are looking for redemption this year. Expect them to bring the firepower as always tonight.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are slight road unders at +110 on the moneyline tonight. They opened up at +120, but have fallen down to +110 throughout the day as they receive some sharper backing. Meanwhile, the total of 6.5 has 63% of the handle on it despite only 47% of tickets. The Leafs will look to bounce back after scoring just one on Saturday night against the Rangers, and it could be an explosive evening at Scotiabank Arena.

After taking the Leafs on Saturday night and watching them deliver a dud at home, we are going to avoid backing them on the moneyline again tonight as a rather public side with 62% of the bets on -135. However, I do believe this high-powered squad will bounce back against a weaker Lightning defense. The Lightning come into this one with a 3-1 record on the young season, but just gave up eight goals in their last two games.

Scoring has been the trend for both of these squads. When the Leafs deliver on offense, they have found great success so far. In their three wins, they had four or more goals and won by multiple. But in their two losses, they mustered just one total goal. On the other side, the Lightning have scored four goals in all four of their games. Their only loss came on Saturday night, when the Senators edged them out 5-4.

With the amount of firepower on both sides of the ice, it would be irresponsible not to take the over in this one. It's early in the season, and defenses are still warming up. The pucks have been flying around, and these two units know how to score with ease. We do have a great goalie in each net, but Andrei Vasilevskiy has not been the same stud as year's past, barely mustering an 82% save percentage on Saturday. This Canada road trip won't flip a defensive switch tonight, and the Leafs should surge back after their one goal outing on Saturday to put pressure on the Lightning. These squads can easily cook up a 4-3 game, if not more tonight. We're going to back the larger handle of 60%+ total dollars riding the over here as we anticipate an offensive explosion on both ends.
