SENATORS VS. MAPLE LEAFS PREDICTION
Linus Ullmark is expected to draw the start for Ottawa in the crease tonight. On the other end of the rink, Anthony Stolarz is confirmed as Toronto's goalkeeper for Game 1.
Stolarz has recorded back-to-back shutouts against Buffalo and Montreal. However, during his last start against the Senators, Stolarz surrendered three goals on 24 shots faced against Ottawa, leading to a 4-2 loss on home ice.
Toronto is infamous for its postseason struggles, so it feels like there's more pressure on them to perform well early in this game. It helps that the Maple Leafs are carrying a five-game winning streak into Game 1.
Ottawa won three of its final four regular season games, so they are also in a good rhythm. Tkachuk's presence will boost the ceiling of the Senators' offense, while Ullmark will look to extend his winning streak to five games as a starter against Toronto tonight.
There's value by backing Ottawa on the puck line at +1, especially with their historical dominance against the Maple Leafs. The Senators have covered the puck line in each of thier last nine games as underdogs following a home win. They've also won five straight games as outright underdogs against Toronto.
The Maple Leafs have won seven straight home games but Ottawa is a physical team that will challenge Stolarz in the offensive zone. There's a strong chance that Ottawa wins outright as well.
Let's bet one unit on the Senators +1 at -121 odds. Then, we can sprinkle up to half a unit on Ottawa's moneyline at +145 odds.
