AVALANCHE VS. STARS PREDICTION

Dallas has hardly held a lead in this series. The Stars rallied with a pair of third period goals in Game 2 and Game 3 to win both matchups in overtime.

Avalanche goaltender Mackenzie Blackwood recorded his first career shutout in the playoffs during Game 4. However, Blackwood faced 23 shots, compared to Stars goaltender Jake Oettinger, who allowed three goals on 34 shots faced, leading to a goalie change in the third period.

Here are a couple of notable trends heading into Game 5 in Dallas tonight. Colorado has lost each of their last four games as road favorites after recording a win at home. The goal total has also gone under in seven straight road games after an Avalanche home win.

The Avalanche have outshot the Stars 138-114 through four games played. Stars D Thomas Harley leads the team with three points, while C Tyler Seguin is the only Dallas player with more than one goal, including a game-winner in overtime.

Colorado is led by Nathan MacKinnon and Logan O'Connor, each with five points and multiple goals. 11 players on the Avalanche have at least two points, while only six players on Dallas' roster have recorded more than one point.

Heiskanen and Robertson's absence looms large ahead of Game 5. Oettinger has played well in between the pipes during this series, posting a .911 save percentage with a 2-2 record. Blackwood's simply been better with his .939 save percentage against nine less shots on goal.

Dallas lost its momentum from a pair of overtime wins that came in Game 2 and Game 3. The Stars need to be aggressive in Game 5 to grab an early lead, which they have yet to do during any game of this series.

Colorado is deeper, healthier, and undoubtedly has better defensemen in Cale Makar and Devon Toews. The Avalanche have the best player on the ice, Nathan MacKinnon, and a goaltender playing with extreme confidence following his shutout performance in Game 4.
