The oddsmakers are not giving any respect to Azarenka in this matchup at all. Yes, she struggled in her last two matches, but she has played well in this tournament. The same can be said about Pegula. But don't count Azarenka out just yet.
I love the way Azarenka has been playing in this tournament. She looks like she is finally 100% healthy and it’s showing. She has struggled with injuries throughout her career but is super talented.
The Belarusian has struggled to get past the semi-finals in majors, but this is the quarterfinals we are talking about. The American gets to the quarterfinals in every Australian Open and then falls apart. Azarenka will definitely take a set from the Pegula in this matchup.
I hate to go against Pegula, but in this match, I have to. Azarenka has been money for us this tournament and she always comes through for us. I expect her to really frustrate Pegula in this matchup.
These players have similar play styles with good serves and good return games. It'll be up to the player doesn’t break first which will really set the tone for the match. Azarenka and Pegula both break down during their matches and take foul shots when they do. But Azarenka has shown that when things go bad, she can battle through it.
