But over the past year, the 24-year-old has become a lot stronger mentally, and it’s honestly helped her game. She is one of those players that could fall apart in the blink of a second when things don’t go her way. Sabalenka has shown she is stronger now and has overcome a lot.
Sabalenka, the No. 5 seed, faces off with Croatian Donna Vekic in the quarterfinals. Vekic has been playing fantastic tennis along the way and, at times, has looked very good. She is a player with all the talent but has been inconsistent over her career. The 26-year-old had a very down 2022 and is looking to make 2023 her year. She has started this tournament well but is now facing a very focused Sabalenka.
