The Serbian Miomir Kecmanovic has been awful prior to this tournament, losing seven out of his last eight matchups. Since then, he has won two straight matches and increased his energy level. He has really looked solid in this tournament, and I don’t expect him to back down in this matchup. He has proven his serve can be really dominant when he plays his best tennis. He was a former top 20 player, but due to his recent performance, he has dropped nearly 20 positions.
His opponent Gregoire Barrere has played extremely well all year, so it doesn’t surprise me that he has done well on grass thus far. His game has improved tremendously, and his powerful serve has been very impressive. He is having a career year and, in his last match, beat a very tough Nicolas Jarry in three sets.
Both of these players are very hard to break and have a no quit attitude. They both have been averaging 24 games per match this year, so fatigue shouldn’t be an issue. I expect this match to be back and forth between these two players, but ultimately I can see Barrere taking this in a tight two sets.
