4 Minute ReadKarolina Muchova vs. Coco Gauff Prediction: Can Coco Survive Against Surging Muchova in Wimbledon Semifinal?
Muchova faces Gauff on Thursday, July 9, at 8:30 a.m. ET in the Wimbledon women’s semifinals. Both players have already made history at this tournament, with Gauff reaching her first Wimbledon semifinal and Muchova reaching the final four at all four Grand Slams.
The odds are tight, with Muchova a -114 favorite and Gauff a +102 underdog. That may look surprising because Gauff is ranked higher and has dominated the head-to-head, but the market is clearly giving weight to Muchova’s grass-court advantage and her straight-sets quarterfinal win over Naomi Osaka.

Karolina Muchova vs. Coco Gauff Recent Results
Gauff’s path has been defined by survival and resilience. She opened with a clean 6-2, 6-1 win over Tamara Korpatsch, but the rest of the tournament has been much harder. She survived Solana Sierra in a deciding tiebreak, battled through Claire Liu in three sets, came from behind to beat Belinda Bencic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, then rallied again to beat Jessica Pegula 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals. That run shows Gauff’s competitive toughness, but it also shows how often she has had to play from uncomfortable positions on grass.
Muchova has looked like the more natural grass-court player. She beat Anastasia Zakharova and Zhang Shuai in straight sets, handled Mananchaya Sawangkaew 6-2, 7-6(1), then beat former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejcikova 7-5, 5-7, 6-3. Her best win came in the quarterfinals, where she stopped Osaka 7-6(4), 6-4 after Osaka had just knocked out Aryna Sabalenka. Muchova served at a high level in that match, mixed pace beautifully and used the slice, net play and forehand variety that make her so difficult on this surface.
Karolina Muchova vs. Coco Gauff Head to Head History
The head-to-head is the biggest argument for Gauff. She leads Muchova 6-1 overall and won the first six meetings, repeatedly using her defense, return pressure and athleticism to make Muchova hit extra balls. But Muchova won the most recent meeting in Stuttgart earlier this season, 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, and this will be their first meeting on grass. That matters because grass gives Muchova more reward for the parts of her game that can bother Gauff: low slices, quick net approaches, angled forehands and first-strike serving.
The surface record and matchup style lean toward Muchova in this specific spot. Gauff is the better overall athlete and the more accomplished player in recent majors, but grass has historically been her least comfortable surface, and she has already had to grind through several three-set matches. Muchova’s 2026 grass season has been the best of her career, including the Bad Homburg title and now a Wimbledon semifinal run, and her game looks more naturally suited to creating problems on this court.

Gauff’s head-to-head edge is real, but Muchova has the grass-court advantage, the cleaner recent form and the tactical variety to make this matchup different from most of their previous meetings. After taking down Osaka in straight sets and proving she can handle power on grass, Muchova is the sharper side to reach the Wimbledon final.
