Maltese Cross is bound to be popular after earning a first Group 1 success in the Grand Prix de Paris last month. That said, he was well held when second to CHRISTMAS DAY in the Derby and it would be no surprise to see the son of Camelot confirm that form. A subsequent second in the Irish Derby proved that his Epsom success was no fluke and Aidan O'Brien's colt sets the standard. Pierre Bonnard was only a neck behind the selection at the Curragh and is 5lb better off here, which brings him right into the equation.
