Enrique is now the clear favourite to take over from Arsene Wenger at the end of the season.
Ex-Barcelona boss Luis Enrique has been backed into a sizable favourite to take over from Arsene Wenger at the end of the season.
He was available at 16/1 when news was first announced of Wenger’s departure, but that’s been cut to just a 5/2 standalone favourite.
In the last 24 hours, over one third of all bets (36%) have been placed on Enrique taking over the helm at the Emirates.
That’s overtaken early bookies’ favourites Thomas Tuchel and Patrick Viera comfortably, with money also coming in right now for ex-Bayern boss Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti (6/1) is the bookies’ second favourite, followed by Joachim Low (10/1), Massimiliano Allegri (12/1) and Brendan Rodgers (12/1).
Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Enrique was widely believed to be Chelsea bound, but this news from across London could scupper those plans.
“Unlike some of the other names being linked, Enrique is not currently in a job, so if he is the main target there should not be much problem striking a deal.”
