Ajax manager assumes market favourite status
Ajax manager Erik ten Hag has been cut into a 10/11 favourite (from 6/4 at the start of February) in the next Manchester United manager odds.
The original market leader, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino, has endured a turbulent few weeks in the French capital having overseen an early Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid - quickly followed by a chastening 3-0 league defeat to Monaco.
Pochettino is now a best price 11/2 to replace interim manager Ralf Rangnick at Old Trafford, having drifted to 5/2 in February from as short as 6/4 in mid January.
PSG are still well placed to claim the Ligue 1 title under Pochettino - they lead Marseille by 12 points with nine games to go - but the Manchester United hierarchy appear to be moving away from the Argentine in the direction of ten Hag.
Is ten Hag the man to take United to the next level?
The Dutchman has steered Ajax to the top of the Dutch Eredivisie table, which they currently lead by two points. Ajax’s statistics under ten Hag are extremely eye-catching; they have scored a league-high 80 goals and conceded just 13 through across 27 matches.
However, Darwin Nunez scored the winner as Benfica beat Ajax in Amsterdam last week to prevent ten Hag's side from reaching the Champions League quarter-finals.
