Three big names who could miss out when Gareth Southgate names his final 26-man squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
James Maddison
Fresh from another match-winning performance for Leicester, you would think James Maddison is a shoo-in for Gareth Southgate's England squad.
Maddison has been directly involved in 22 Premier League goals in 2022 (13 goals, nine assists) - a record bettered only by Harry Kane (32), Kevin De Bruyne (29) and Heung-Min Son (25).
And as Sam McGuire explains as part of this exclusive analysis for oddschecker, he has stepped up when it looked as though the Foxes would be in a relegation scrap.

In previous years, it would’ve been Jamie Vardy, but the dynamic has shifted for the 2015/16 Premier League champions and now Maddison is the clear driver of the team.
Yet for some reason, Southgate remains unconvinced. Having not featured for his country since November 2019, Maddison looks too short even at 11/10 to make the squad.

Kalvin Phillips
Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has confirmed England midfielder Kalvin Phillips will be in the squad to face Chelsea in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday. But has the 26-year-old's long awaited injury return come too late for his World Cup chances?
Unlike Maddison, Phillips has been a firm favourite under Southgate - collecting 23 caps since making his debut in August 2020.
However, he has played just a single minute in the Premier League for his new club since moving from Leeds in the summer. Like Maddison, his price to make the squad for Qatar (8/11) hardly has us rushing to place a bet.

Jadon Sancho
Six weeks ago, Jadon Sancho looked an increasingly good bet to make Gareth Southgate's World Cup squad after showing early signs of promise under new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag.
However, while teammate Marcus Rashford (1/4) has built on his early season form to all but secure his place on the plane to Qatar, Sancho's form has gone the other way at the wrong time.
Having started the first seven Premier League matches of the season, the 22-year-old was subbed off early in the 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge before missing the three matches since with illness. Sky Bet have Sancho at Evens to make the final 26-man squad but we're expecting him to miss out.
