Masters Odds 2022: Tiger Woods the most backed in the last 24 hours

Tiger Woods is the most backed player for the Masters 2022 in the last 24 hours after reportedly completing a practice round at Augusta National.

The 46-year-old sparked a social media frenzy starting last night after walking 18 holes with his son Charlie and world number seven Justin Thomas.

In the last 24 hours he has taken 8.33% of the outright winner bets on the Masters 2022 through oddschecker and seen his tournament price chopped from 66/1 into a general 50/1.

That means he's accounted for more of the bets than US compatriot Scottie Scheffler (now into 16/1), a three-time winner from his last five starts and the new world number one after beating Kevin Kisner to the WGC Match Play title on Sunday in Texas.

Scheffler is the joint second most backed through oddschecker in the last 24 hours alongside Viktor Hovland, winner of the Dubai Desert Classic in January, while The Players champion Cameron Smith and market leader Jon Rahm (best price 10/1) come in fourth and fifth respectively.

Woods has not played competitively since a near fatal car accident in February 2021, which almost led to the amputation of his right leg.

However, punters are clearly confident that a few practice rounds in his happiest of hunting grounds can set Woods up for a tilt at Masters title number six - should he confirm his intention to play.

Woods, aged just 21, famously blew away the field to win the Masters 1997 by a record 12 strokes. He followed that success with back-to-back wins in 2001 and 2002, a playoff win over Chris DiMarco in 2005 and the incredible fifth win 14 years on in 2019.

Those just outside the top five for most bets in the last 24 hours are Collin Morikawa, Brooks Koepka, Rory McIlroy and Dustin Johnson, a past winner at Riviera which was highlighted in this analysis by Niall Lyons as a key form guide for subsequent success at Augusta.
