Who is the favourite to win the Masters 2024?

One player has separated himself from the field going into next week's Masters.

Scottie Scheffler is the big favourite with the bookmakers to win the 2024 Masters at a best price of 4/1, giving him an implied 20% chance of winning the tournament.

The world number one, targeting his second green jacket, won both the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship before losing out to Stephan Jaeger by a single stroke at last week's Texas Children's Houston Open.

However, Scheffler will have to buck a recent trend to reign supreme next weekend.

Previous form at the Masters may be a proven trend over a long period of time. However, winning form tells a different story - as observed here by Niall Lyons as part of his analysis of the likeliest first time major winner next week.

He found that past winners of this event down the last decade have struggled to make an impact thereafter and it could be a reason to oppose the big betting favourite, as well as other recent champions including last year’s winner Jon Rahm.

Only two of the last 10 winners have managed a top 10 the year after. In fact, if you take out Jordan Spieth (22/1 on LivescoreBet) who has a great record here, the last 10 winners have only managed two top five finishes between them after their win in 43 tries.

Niall Lyons has also provided an early look at the course and the key stat categories for Oddschecker Unlimited subscribers. He will make his final selections for the Masters 2024 on Monday afternoon.

In the absence of a DP World Tour event this week, the Valero Texas Open marks the last chance for anyone new to force their way in - should the winner in San Antonio not already be in the field for Augusta they will earn a place.
