The bookmakers are scared of a Mullins masterclass on Day 1 at Cheltenham.
You can back a clean sweep of wins for Willie Mullins' shortest price runners across the seven races on the first day of next week's Cheltenham Festival at 7,370/1 on BetMGM.
The Closutton handler, who is more than 90% likely to be the Top Trainer at the Cheltenham Festival even at the best odds through oddschecker, trains five of the seven ante-post favourites for Day 1 at Cheltenham. He also has the second favourite in the two final races of the day, the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle and National Hunt Chase.
The bookmakers are already poised for a big hit should Ballyburn win the Supreme, State Man the Champion Hurdle and Lossiemouth the Mares' Hurdle (3/1 treble on Sky Bet). However, hopes for many on that treble could be dashed (or potential payouts reduced with NRNB), should Ballyburn be re-routed to the Gallagher Novices' Hurdle on Day 2.
Even if you assume that will be the case, the second favourite for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle is Mullins' Mystical Power. It's then far from implausible that Mystical Power could be followed into the winners' enclosure by Gaelic Warrior (Arkle), Meetingofthewaters (Ultima), State Man (Champion Hurdle) and Lossiemouth (Mares' Hurdle).
In the penultimate race on Tuesday, Batman Girac (7/1 for the Boodles on bet365) is the longest of Mullins' shortest price runners per race on Day 1, while Embassy Gardens is a 9/4 second favourite in the closing National Hunt Chase behind Corbetts Cross.
