Bookmakers are still struggling to pick a clear favourite among the leading runners still in contention for the 2025 Grand National.
As we reach the confirmations stage for the 2025 Grand National, identifying the likeliest winner of the race remains far from clear cut. Notable horses taken out at today's confirmation stage - L'Homme Presse, Capodanno, Velvet Elvis, Minella Drama, Fontaine Collonges, Quick Wave and Mr Incredible.
At the time of writing there are seven leading runners available at 10/1 or shorter with at least one bookmaker on oddschecker, with the top three Stumptown, Iroko and Intense Raffles a shortest price 7/1.
Even at best price, the seven market leaders range from just 8/1 through to 12/1, suggesting the money will be spread around for this year's showpiece on the final day of the Aintree Festival.
Stumptown has been the favourite pick with the oddschecker community over the weekend having taken close to 10% of all bets in the winner market (Vanillier next most with 7.5%).
Interestingly, both Kandoo Kid and Hyland (20/1) have attracted greater support than the favourite for much of last week, Intense Raffles, backed in less than 4.5% of the bets over the weekend.
What date is the 2025 Grand National?
The 2025 Grand National will be held at 16:00 on Saturday 5th April.
Over recent years, several tweaks have been made to the 'world's most famous race' at Aintree. Up until 2023, the race allowed a maximum of 40 runners, but this has now been reduced to 34 to improve safety for both jockeys and horses.
The fences have been altered, the race distance has been slightly shortened, and the prize pot has been boosted, resulting in more top-quality horses taking the victory in recent times.

The eight-year-old is unlucky not to have won his previous five starts. He defied a rating of 157 to win at the Cheltenham Festival by seven lengths last time in first-time cheekpieces and he gets to run here off the same mark.
Iroko is a price-match for Stumptown with many of the bookmakers at the confirmations stage. JP McManus had this race highlighted as his target early on this season.
The seven-year-old won the Martin Pipe Handicap Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in 2023 and finished 2nd to subsequent Cheltenham Gold Cup winner Inothewayurthinkin at Aintree in the Grade 1 Mildmay Novices’ Chase last season.
