US Politics Odds: Bookmakers make Trump 95% likely to be Republican candidate

Donald Trump is almost certain to be the Republican candidate in the November US election, according to US Politics Odds.

Ahead of the highly anticipated Super Tuesday in US Politics, recent odds reveal Donald Trump as the clear frontrunner for the Republican candidacy in the upcoming Presidential Election.

According to oddschecker, Trump’s current odds of 1/20 indicate a staggering 95% implied probability that he will represent the Republican party in 2024.

Having started 2024 at 1/7, UK bookmakers have consistently cut their odds until he reached the 1/50 figure at the start of February.

Nikki Haley represents Trump’s closest rival in the betting at 20/1; however, many political analysts believe that Super Tuesday could spell the end of her run for candidacy.

Furthermore, Trump’s dominance extends to the 2024 Presidential Election winner market. Odds of evens, translating to a 50% implied probability, position Trump as the strong favourite for a second term starting in November.

In addition to the support from oddsmakers, bettors on oddschecker have overwhelmingly backed Trump. Since the start of the year, 57% of all bets placed on the Presidential Election winner market have favoured Trump.

In contrast, Joe Biden has only picked up 19% of the bets within the same time frame, with current odds at 9/4 (31% implied probability) for his re-election.

Despite not announcing she is running for candidacy, Michelle Obama is the second favourite behind Biden to be the Democratic candidate and the third favourite to be the next president (9/1 Paddy Power).

Leon Blackman from oddschecker said: “As we approach Super Tuesday, Donald Trump maintains a commanding position with UK bookmakers.

“With odds currently of 1/20 to win the Republican Candidacy, oddsmakers believe there’s a 95% implied probability that Trump will represent the Republicans once again.

“Nikki Haley is the closest rival in the betting; however, at odds of 20/1 she’s only given a mere 4.8% of being the Republican candidate.

“Trump’s dominance transcends into the 2024 Presidential Election winner market as well. Since the turn of the year, Trump has captured 57% of all bets on oddschecker to be elected in November.

“In contrast, Joe Biden has only managed to pick up 19% of the bets in the same time frame. A strong showing for Trump on Super Tuesday will only improve his position with oddsmakers to win a second term in November.”
