We look at how the bookmakers have reacted to the first round of voting in the Conservative leadership election.
It’s all change at the top of the Next Tory Leader betting market.
The race is hotting up to replace former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who stood down as leader of the Tory party after overseeing the Conservatives’ worst performance at a general election in July.
Going into last week’s first round of voting, there were six candidates ranging from 7/4 to 40/1 at best prices available through oddschecker.
Home Secretary Priti Patel was knocked out of the contest having taken just 14 of the 118 votes cast. The next vote takes place on Tuesday 10th September, which will reduce the field from five to four before the party's annual conference at the end of September.
A round of hustings and multiple votes lasting three days will follow the conference from Thursday 10th October until only two candidates are left.
The chosen leader of the final two standing will then be decided by Conservative Party members, announced on Saturday 2nd November.
