The UK enters the competition tonight in Basel - can Remember Monday restore some respectability to UK's Eurovision legacy?
It’s been three years since Sam Ryder’s hit ‘Space Man’ rocked Turin and rocketed the UK to a second place finish behind Ukraine’s Kalush Orchestra, ending a run of two successive last place finishes at Eurovision. How time flies.
There is hope that this year’s entrants can hit Ryder’s stratospheric heights, but who are they, what are they singing and how will they fare?
UK Eurovision 2025 Entry
This year’s hope are three-piece girl group and childhood friends, Remember Monday. Charlotte, Lauren and Holly-Anne will be the first girl-group to represent the UK at Eurovision since five piece, Precious, finished 12th in 1999.
UK Eurovision fans will have to wait until Thursday for Remember Monday’s semi-final performance as they take their bow in the second of the semi-finals.
There are 15 countries in the first semi-final and 16 in the second semi-final (betting tips here) - the top 10 countries from each will make it through to the final (outright betting tips), including the UK, Spain, Germany, France and Italy – who automatically qualify.

What is the UK Eurovision Song?
Remember Monday will sing their self-penned track ‘What the Hell Just Happened?’ which focuses heavily on the group’s use of harmonies, while its various key changes and pace-shifts are reflective of its title.
The song has seen a mixed response from critics, with some seeing it as perfect for Eurovision while others think its mish-mash approach might result in yet another low score. Suffice to say, they girls have incredible voices either way.

When was the last time the UK won Eurovision?
The last time the UK actually tasted victory on a Eurovision stage was way back in 1997 when a little known band called Katrina and the Waves romped to victory with 227 points - 70 points ahead of hosts and neighbours, Ireland.
Since then, it is fair to say the UK’s once respectable Eurovision legacy has now been tarnished; since 1997 the UK have achieved more last place finishes (five) than top five finishes (four).
