Brazil will be looking to secure passage into the knockout phase of the World Cup with a victory here. They edged past a stern Serbia outfit 2-0 and now must face a Switzerland side who can also qualify with a win as they come into this one off the back of a 1-0 victory over Cameroon.

Brazil vs Switzerland Stats

  • Switzerland conceded just once in their final six qualifiers after Euro 2020
  • Brazil were made to work for their opening win and Switzerland are likely to just as much fight and organisation
  • Brazil have won 12 of their last 16 outings

Brazil vs Switzerland Prediction:

Betting Tip: Brazil win & under 4.5 goals

The Selecao were one of the favourites to win the competition prior to it starting and they lived up to expectation in their opening match as they managed to secure victory against a resolute Serbia side.

Tite will have been disappointed that they couldn’t score more goals as they wasted a number of good opportunities but will be happy enough as they now require just one more win to seal their progression into the knockout stages. The boss will be unable to call on Neymar after he suffered an injury.

Across the last two seasons, when Neymar has been available, they have won 91% of their games, that drops to 60% when he has been unavailable and it means another tight match can be anticipated in my opinion.

Switzerland have been impressive under boss Murat Yakin and he has implemented a back four since taking over. He will have been over the moon to have secured an opening victory whilst also keeping a clean sheet but he’ll know that Brazil are an entirely different beast.

The Samba boys pose a threat all over the field and they will try to keep the game played in the Swiss half. Switzerland managed just seven shots against Cameroon but it was enough for Breel Embolo to score the match winner, but they can ill-afford to be wasteful if they’re presented with opportunities against Brazil as they will be few and far between.

I think this clash could be a closely fought one and I don't think we’ll see a plethora of goals. However, I do think that Brazil will get the victory here and by throwing in under 4.5 match goals to accompany that, we get a nice price of 4/5.
