Ghana’s dramatic 3-2 victory over South Korea means that qualification to the knockout stages is well within sight. A win here against their old foes would do the job, but a draw may also see them advance if South Korea fails to beat leaders Portugal by two or more goals. For Uruguay, only a win will do and they will also be hoping that Portugal do not suffer defeat against the South Koreans.

Ghana vs Uruguay Stats

Ghana vs Uruguay Prediction:

Betting Tip: Both teams to score

Matchday three of the group stages offers yet another enticing clash and there are a number of subplots to this one.

The last time these two sides met was in the quarter-final of the 2010 edition of this competition when Uruguay controversially knocked Ghana out.

Luis Suarez handball on the line at the end of extra-time saw the former Liverpool man sent off, but Ghana missed the opportunity and failed to convert from the spot. The country of Ghana were furious and they’ll want the chance to get one over on the South-Americans as payback.

However, Uruguay are fighting for their lives as they sit bottom of Group H after accruing just a single point. They need a win here and will hope it’s third time lucky, having failed to hit the back of the net in both of their previous matches in Qatar.

This should be a very fun match to watch, and I think we could see goals for both sides. Ghana like to play attacking football and they’ll be trying to resist the temptation of going toe-to-toe with the Uruguayans in an effort to avenge their previous meeting. But likewise, La Celeste needs to avoid just sitting deep and have to come out and attack. It should lead to a compelling clash and both sides can get in on the action.

It could be nervy early doors but expect it to open up and with that, both teams successfully hitting the back of the net at some point here makes appeal.
