17:15 Saturday

The first FA Cup semi-final of the weekend takes place this evening as Crystal Palace and Aston Villa line up at Wembley Stadium with either Man City or Nottingham Forest waiting for the winner in the final.

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Prediction

  • Crystal Palace twice came from behind to rescue a point at Arsenal in midweek, though the stalemate extended their winless run to four matches.
  • The Eagles have a solid record against Aston Villa ahead of the first FA Cup semi-final, winning three of the last four meetings between the pair.
  • Villa saw their five-game Premier League winning streak end in midweek as they fell to a late 2-1 loss at Manchester City to lose ground in the race for a Champions League finish.
  • Even so, the Villans travel to Wembley having won 10 of their last 12 in all competitions, which includes victories over PSG, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest.
  • In what should be a cagey affair in the capital, this FA Cup semi-final may go the distance.

Score Prediction: Crystal Palace 1-1 Aston Villa

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa Bet Builder Tips

Our Bet Builder tips for Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa features Jean-Philippe Mateta to Have 1+ Shot on Target, Marcus Rashford to Have 1+ Shot on Target & Jefferson Lerma to be Carded.

At the time of publishing it is a best price of 7/1 with BetMGM.

  • Mateta has been in excellent form, scoring 14 Premier League goals this season, including a stunning strike against Arsenal. He scored in Palace’s 4-1 league win over Villa in February and has 1+ shot on target in three of his last five recent games. His physical presence and finishing make him a constant threat, especially against a Villa defense that has only kept one clean sheet in their last six matches.
  • Rashford has four shots on target in his last five games and is averaging 1 shot on target per 90 for Aston Villa and 3.65 shots.
  • Crystal Palace’s midfielder Jefferson Lerma is a strong candidate for a booking. He has received eight yellow cards in the Premier League this season, averaging one foul per game. His physical, combative style in midfield often leads to challenges, especially against Aston Villa’s creative players like Marcus Rashford or Morgan Rogers. In a high-stakes FA Cup semi-final, Lerma’s aggressive pressing could see him cautioned.
