Tour Championship

The end of the Sopranos had everyone rewinding convinced that their broadcast had failed. Was this really the ending? A black screen? No dialogue, no shoot out, no guts on the floor? Of course David Chase had written plenty into the final season that made students of the show understand the depth and meaning into that final scene. A masterpiece.

A black screen, and onto the Fortinet or something similar would be a more fitting ending to a season than what will transpire over the next four days. Scheffler could make a trip to the toilet, McIlroy could attempt to park the car three times and Rahm could be left sitting eating the Onion Rings and this event would still be a failure. One day, we will get this tournament back to it's former glory, don't stop believing eh?

I'm surprised a little by the Outright prices. I didn't expect Scheffler to be so short, and I believed the gap between him and McIlroy would be slightly less. Scheffler has been a thorn in my side of late, but he was usurped once again at the weekend, this time by Hovland and his winless streak continues. Closing in on 6/4 on the exchange looks mighty short for someone who has a red hot Hovland in behind, and McIlroy a shot further back with a scintillating record around this golf course.

Rahm one shot back of Rory means we have the standout best four golfers in the field ranked 1-4 in the FedEx. It all adds up to Scheffler looking really short at the current odds, but I can't choose between the other three although I'd suggest anyone looking to get involved in that market would be best advised to risk the Irishman at the odds.

Tom Kim at 33/1 (Four Places)

Attention then turns to the best 72 hole score market and enthusiasm must be tempered a little with players not knowing where they stand in this market over the weekend, and nor does it matter an awful lot either. Nevertheless, I'd suggest Scheffler looks a vulnerable fav in this market with plenty to protect and I'd prefer to look further down the market.

Jon Rahm is a dangerous man coming from behind and I wouldn't be surprised to see him galvanised by something to aim at early doors. He'll need to improve most departments of his game; however, to contend in this market and there seem to be too many hitting better form of late for him to be a betting prospect.

Tom Kim is one of those and on a course that rewards a tidy long game he looks a little value in the 72 hole market. Kim struggled in the middle part of the year but has hit the heights we know he's capable of once again in the last month or so. An incredible two weeks on the links in Scotland and Liverpool were evidence his game has returned and two solid efforts since have secured his debut here at East Lake.

The Korean produced a sparkling 63 on Sunday to surge through the field at Olympia Fields and that should give him the perfect platform to do similar again being so far behind the leaders here from the beginning. He already has a win on a Ross designed course when winning the Wyndham last year and has the perfect game to tame another layout that demands you play well through the bag.

Wyndham Clark at 35/1 (5 Places)

In what has been a successful year for us backing Wyndham Clark I believe there is every reason to keep the faith and go in again on someone who is clearly adapting to life at the top of the game with ease. Clark strikes me as someone who has a very similar to Xander Schauffele in that he is long and straight from the tee and more than competent on and around the greens also. Schauffele has shown on numerous occasions how proficient he is on this golf course and I expect Clark could take to it quite comfortably also.

Two of the best performances of the season have come from Clark and that is a sign that he can overcome this handicap system and plough his way to the top of the 72 hole market. Lying at four under he has the perfect combination of free-wheeling a little whilst still holding a legitimate chance of catching the leaders (all be it an outside chance). Clark looks a special prospect given the breakout year he has had and East Lake looks a perfect venue on which he can showcase that all round skillset once again.
