Open Championship Final Round
One of the most thrilling Major Championships draws to a close on Sunday and if the drama is half as exciting as Saturday then we are in for a treat.
With wind direction changes yesterday afternoon the leaders got absolutely shafted but amongst some average golf was the sheer genius of Schauffele, Rose and Horschel.
Open Championship Final Round Tips & Predictions
Rain may great the leaders tomorrow once again, and regardless of wind the softening of the golf course makes that final stretch all the more brutal.
Sam Burns and Russell Henley now rate as single figure shots to win the tournament, and they'll need a good round to win. By the time they go out they may have a score already in the clubhouse that is tough to beat for the final round, but if nobody manages a real low one early then I'd much rather be on these two at 45/1 + to shoot the lowest round score instead of taking the single figures to win the tournament.
For some early afternoon action I'll have a 3 ball treble starting with Laurie Canter to beat Chris Kirk.
The Englishman will be presently surprised to be only six shots behind given the way he has hit his irons this week, but any improvement in that department today could see him post a very satisfying finish.
Canter ranks 2nd off the tee for the week and with Kirk only having landed one top 20 in this Major in five tries, I believe Canter could get the upper hand on him today.
Next up Calum Scott has had a fantastic week and currently holds a 3 shot lead in the race for the Silver Medal and top amateur. He will face huge pressure today and I expect Matteo Manassero to get the better of him on day four.
The Italian has had a great year winning in South Africa and last time out finished 15th in the Scottish Open. Having already landed a couple of Open top 20s in his career he should be much more comfortable in his surroundings this afternoon than his playing partner.
My final selection in the treble is the leader Billy Horschel to get the better of Thriston Lawrence. This is unchartered territory almost for both, but the American had his second best finish in a Major in the PGA earlier this year and has a wealth of experience in high profile tournaments around the lead.
He can turn to his experience winning further South at Wentworth and Lawrence will do well to cope with the pressure and conditions that they'll face going out later this afternoon.
1pt Treble Canter, Manassero & Horschel all to win their final round 2 balls 6.32/1 Betfair Sportsbook
