US Open 2025

We are closing in on the US Open and now that my full squad is live, it’s time to bring you my side bets for the event. All of these are advised as singles, however for my top nationality bets, we are also playing the patent at .25pts per line in case we are fortunate enough to land the multiples.

I have also put up a few small stake first-round leader selections and with this tournament taking place at such a difficult course, it’s a good opportunity for an outsider to make a fast start. Gamble responsibly, and hopefully we can land a few nice side bets on the week.

US Open Top 10 Bets

COLLIN MORIKAWA - Top 10 finish 1.5pt at 13/5 (bet365)

Short enough in the market, but Collin Morikawa to finish inside the Top 10 looks quite a solid bet with all things considered. He is generally a really consistent player from tee to green, but his putting has been the weak factor in his game.

At Oakmont this week, although putting is always important, there is less emphasis on it this week as players are going to be hitting a lot of putts from 40ft or more. So it’s not so much that players will win by holing more 8-12 footers, it will be more who can lag putt the best.

Now as mentioned, I don’t think Collin is the best putter in the world but a player of his class should have the game from tee to green to keep himself at the top end of the leaderboard.

I’d be disappointed if he couldn’t compete this week and the 13/5 for a Top 10 finish looks solid to me, I just wouldn’t be interested in backing him in the outright market.

US Open Special Bets

TYRRELL HATTON - Top Englishman 1pt at 9/2 (bet365)

I am a big Tyrrell Hatton fan and he gave us our first win of the season when he took the Dubai Desert Classic back in January. I have backed him a fair few times since then too and I actually think his game is quite well suited to Oakmont.

My concern with him is his temperament because the course here is brutal and if he can’t maintain focus for four rounds, then he will struggle. I did want to back him in some way though and the 9/2 for him to be top Englishman is great value.

Tommy Fleetwood is favourite in this market but I think Hatton is the better player and I also think his game suits this course better than it will for Tommy. I think the 9/2 is really good value here.

BYEONG HUN AN Top Asian 1pt at 7/1 (Betfred, Bet Victor & Boylesports)

The most overpriced player in the top nationality markets though has to be Byeong Hun An at 7/1. He is a really consistent player this season and the course will suit him better than most in this market.

Sungjae Im is having major issues with his irons, Matsuyama hasn’t been striking the ball that well, Tom Kim has been erratic, but Byeong Hun An has looked very comfortable out on the golf course.

He has become more consistent from tee to green and that is one of the big factors I am looking for this week. His game should suit this course really well and I am expecting him to play well this week. Take advantage of the 7/1 in this market.

ADAM SCOTT - Top Australian 1pt at 4/1 (most firms)

The Top Australian market looks quite strong on paper but Jason Day the favourite hasn’t exactly been in the best form. Min Woo Lee has the credentials to play well here but the one I like the most is Adam Scott at 4/1.

He has been gearing up to a big performance and not only is he solid enough off the tee, but he has a really strong long iron game and that is going to come into play a lot this week. He is a really good ball striker too so I expect him to hit plenty of greens and he is worth a second look here at 4/1.

US Open First Round Leader Bets

KEEGAN BRADLEY - First Round Leader .25pts each-way at 70/1 (¼ odds for 5 places - bet365 & 10Bet)

Keegan Bradley is set to be captain of the American Ryder Cup team but make no mistake about it, he is playing golf good enough himself that he could make the team. He is a player full of class and he is a really mature player too which I like for these difficult courses and he could well make an impact here.

The leading score is not going to be too low so a solid mature performance from Keegan Bradley could well see him at the top of the leaderboard early on. Providing he keeps it in play off the tee, he will have a good chance at scoring well in the opening round here. 70/1 is more than fair for Keegan Bradley.

AARON RAI - First Round Leader .25pts each-way at 90/1 (1/5 odds for 7 places - Unibet, LiveScoreBet & BetMGM)

In these first round leader markets you want players that don’t make too many mistakes and I think Aaron Rai fits that tag nicely. He has become a really good driver of the ball and even though he isn’t overly long, that accuracy will be welcomes around here.

If you can keep it in the fairway off the tee, then you give yourself the chance of hitting plenty of greens in regulation and away from all of the trouble. I don’t see how it goes too far wrong for Aaron Rai with all things considered so he should have the capability of posting a decent number here.

DENNY MCCARTHY - First Round Leader .25pts each-way at 100/1 (1/5 odds for 7 places - Unibet, LiveScoreBet & BetMGM)

I was a big fan of Denny McCarthy for last year’s US Open and I think he can enjoy this golf course too if it doesn’t become too long for him. His short game is absolutely superb and that’s what has me backing him for the first-round leader.

If he plays well from tee to green and doesn’t try and force anything, he is one of the players that could score really well. We have seen how good his chipping and putting have been and if he hits greens in regulation, he could post a number.

RYAN FOX - First Round Leader .25pts each-way at 90/1 (1/5 odds for 7 places - Unibet, LiveScoreBet & BetMGM)

Finally last week’s winner Ryan Fox may not be my idea of the winner this week, but in the opening round here he could well get competitive if he continues the momentum from the Canadian Open.

He is sneaky long off the tee but still plays within himself and he was hitting a really consistent shot shape with his irons last week. If he turns up here striking the ball well again then he can make an early impact here. The 90/1 if pretty fair for Ryan Fox with the credentials he has to offer.
