Leg 1 Selections: Looking For Lynda, Ventura Express, Mondammej, Alligator Alley

The 1st leg is an extremely-competitive Handicap in which a case can easily be made for a lot of these. My shortlist though, includes LOOKING FOR LYNDA who has knocked on the door several times at this venue, including in a pair of Listed events, and did well from the front when fourth at Windsor last time. He is on a nice-low weight and should make a bold bid, while VENTURA EXPRESS went close here two starts ago and is feared, as is course-regular MONDAMMEJ and ALLIGATOR ALLEY who both have place claims should they produce their best form.

Leg 2 Selections: Loose Cannon, Cogitate

Ballymount Boy’s second at Goodwood was boosted when the winner, Vandeek, scored in a Group 1 in France next time. However, he has to prove himself to be just as effective over this longer trip and preference is for LOOSE CANNON who made an impressive-winning debut at this course last month and represents a stable who does well in this contest. He could be up to the challenge ahead, while COGITATE, who also won well on his debut, is feared most for a stable who have a good record in the race too.

Leg 3 Selections: Continuous

Gregory has won all three starts to date and impressed with his attitude at Royal Ascot last time. That said, he will need to raise his game again to give three pounds to CONTINUOUS who got back on track when second to King Of Steel at Royal Ascot and his third in the Dante reads well. The form has been advertised by the winner since and he is only rated a pound lower than the favourite. He should make a bold bid under Ryan Moore.

Leg 4 Selections: Paddington, Mostahdaf, Nashwa, The Foxes

PADDINGTON has been campaigned brilliantly by his handler and could add another Group 1 to his tally and emulate Giant’s Causeway who won the St James's Palace, Eclipse and Sussex Stakes en route to winning this race. He is the one to beat and hopefully a hard season hasn’t caught up with him. though MOSTAHDAF was impressive in the Prince of Wales and is the clear danger. He will be primed to run another personal best, while NASHWA is a multiple Group 1 winner and cannot be discounted but does need another career-best to beat the front pair. THE FOXES would be a surprise winner as he has plenty to find on ratings but just in case the unexpected happens, he can be covered as well.

Leg 5 Selections: Haliphon, Charging Thunder, Forza Orta

HALIPHON travelled really well last time and was only beaten half-a-length which was evidently a return to form and his best effort of the current season. He is back up a couple of pounds but is still very well-treated on the pick of last year’s peak efforts and is three pounds below his last winning mark. He has yet to deliver his best over this trip in three previous attempts but has time on his side and Paul Hanagan is booked to ride. CHARGING THUNDER is also operating below his last winning mark and could improve for this step up in distance. He is of interest and is included on the list. FORZA ORTA has a win and a second from three starts at this course and has probably been targeted at this race all season. He could easily make the frame

Leg 6 Selections: Pillow Talk

Karl Burke’s PILLOW TALK has twice run very well over this course-and-distance in a pair of Listed events, winning one of them and finishing second in the other which are good pieces of form. She has low-mileage and is down in grade back at this course after a close-up third at Pontefract when last seen. She merits serious respect as she attempts to extend her fine record here and has every chance of doing so from a good draw coupled with this very exploitable mark and Danny Tudhope in the saddle.
