Liam picks out his NAP of the festival in the Mares Chase and finds value in the Stayers Hurdle.
MARES CHASE
PANIC ATTACK - 4 Pts Win (NRNB)
Best price 5/1 at the time of publishing.
I’m not exaggerating when I say this, I despise putting up the same horse for two separate races and it is something that I have NEVER done from an ante-post perspective previously but this is THE NAP OF CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL.
Some of the below has been repurposed from my Ryanair write up as it all rings true for her tilt at The Mares Chase which is almost certainly her target for next week.
PANIC ATTACK (5/1) was breathtaking at Newbury earlier this season and irrespective of the opposition. It was how she went about dismantling that race as she jumped from fence to fence before taking an age to be pulled up by Harry Skelton.
Harry was a little lost for words post-race and clearly was impressed with how she performed. It was clear to viewers that the run from Panic Attack had seriously impressed him.
She has already won the Paddy Power Gold Cup along with the Coral Gold Cup, which was done with ease and a return to Cheltenham and the change of course and the more galloping nature of the New Course will play further to her strengths.
This mare is lightly raced for a 10-year-old and is in the form of her life following an unbeaten start to this season with three victories to her name, two of which are some of the most competitive handicaps in the calendar.
Additionally, she gets weight from most of the market principles:
5lbs from:
- Spindleberry
3lbs from:
- Dinoblue
- Jade De Grugy
- Kala Conti
- Only By Night
Ensure that you bet responsibly throughout the week of the festival, but I can assure you that with every winner I have Tuesday thru Thursday (hopefully there are plenty) a further investment will be made on this mare for Friday.

STAYERS HURDLE
FEET OF A DANCER - 0.75 Pts EW
Best price 33/1 at the time of publishing.
From one mare to another and my play in The Stayers is FEET OF A DANCER (33/1) who I’m a huge fan of. Fourth in the Pertemps Network Final and has been incredibly consistent throughout her entire career and is a really genuine mare. She’s won 6 of her 16 starts and has been in the first 3 on 12 of them. (Two of those where she wasn’t in the first three were 4th place finishes in fields of 12 & 24 runners)
Her run prior to her success in the G2 at Doncaster was excellent having finished in second place to Wodhooh and that was again, a very solid performance and there’s no shame in being beaten by last year’s Martin Pipe Winner who is clearly top class. Feet Of A Dancer took up the lead on the second circuit and put in a good performance showing her staying ability but this was ultimately over a trip too short.
Paul Nolan has already suggested that they may well take their chance in this race and that enough for me to make an investment in this progressive mare. We have seen plenty of shocks in prior renewals of this event with Winner’s passing the post at odds of 14/1, 12/1, 50/1, 12/1, 33/1 in recent years. In fact, a double figure price has won this in 6 of the last 12 renewals and given that Feet Of A Dancer has shown a liking for the course and gets the mares allowance makes her an exciting proposition from my perspective.
