The six-year-old romped home at Punchestown causing bookies to react in the ante-post markets.
Getabird won impressively at Punchestown in the Sky Bet Moscow Flyer Novice Hurdle after going off the even money favourite. Oddschecker ante-post bettors would have been happy as we reported on Thursday the horse had accounted for 44% of bets on the market.
Willie Mullins has now saddled six of the last nine winners of this race, the Irishman and Ricci teaming up for four of these – Mikael D’Haguenet, Vautour, Douvan and Min. Of the four, it is only Min (beaten by Altior) that failed to go on and win a novice hurdle at Cheltenham.
The unbeaten six-year-old has now shot to the top of the market of the Supreme Novices, ranging from as short as 3/1 to 5/1 after being available at 14/1 this morning. The Mullins horse has also been slashed in the Ballymore Novices market to as short as 5/1 where Gordon Elliot’s Samcro sits as the 2/1 favourite.
