Cheltenham Day 4 Lucky 15

LULAMBA

Hoping to kick off Gold Cup Day with a winner and I’m very much in the LULAMBA camp for Nicky Henderson. It is by no means ideal that he comes here off the back of just the one run but I was impressed with that Ascot performance and with untapped potential I think he’ll improve enough to come out on top. East India Dock has been impressive so looks the danger but I’m not convinced he is as good as the market is suggesting.

LARK IN THE MORNIN

The way LARK IN THE MORNIN travelled en route to winning the Boodles here last year was really impressive and this test should really suit. He shaped like he needed the run on reappearance at Leopardstown and he will be cherry ripe for this now. He is still unexposed so could easily prove much better than his mark. Absurde won the race last year and is clearly very talented so looks the danger. Kargese (the NAP for Andy Holding) needs to settle better to have a chance.

THE BIG WESTERNER

Unbeaten mare THE BIG WESTERNER could be worth keeping on side here. She is 2-2 over hurdles and was impressive at Limerick when last seen. This is a gruelling test but she looks all about stamina and getting weight from all her rivals could be the one to side with. Henry de Bromhead was among the winners yesterday and that could continue today. The French horse Jet Blue won well over C&D last time and could improve and emerge as the danger.

RYEHILL

I know RYEHILL has a bit of ground to make up with Angel’s Dawn based on that point they both contested back in December but he was really impressive at Naas last month. He beat Ontheropes by 12 lengths and is more unexposed than most in here up against largely exposed rivals. I was pleasantly surprised to see him a double-figure price so definitely worth chancing. Angels Dawn is definitely feared but she is short enough and probably wants rain.
