Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle Tips

Eleven of the previous twelve winners of the Albert Bartlett have already previously won over 2m7f or further with the three qualifiers being Thedeviluno, Kazansky and Moneygarrow (best priced at 12/1). The first two have to reverse form with impressive Dublin Racing Festival winner Doctor Steinberg so I am going to take a chance on the latter.

The Dan Skelton trained six-year-old contested two Grade 2 novice hurdles on his first two starts before winning his next two since a wind operation. A 7 length victory at Warwick over 2m5f was followed by a narrow victory at Windsor over 3 miles on soft ground under a penalty last time.

The stable had other contenders for the race including Grade 2 Prestige Novice Hurdle winner Dalston Lad who is instead being targeted at Aintree, so the fact they rely on only Moneygarrow in this race has to be a positive.

Cheltenham Gold Cup

Cheltenham Gold Cup Tips

This is a fascinating edition of the Cheltenham Gold Cup with the King George VI Chase from Kempton on Boxing Day looking the key form line. The Jukebox Man beat both Gaelic Warrior and Jango Baie (best priced at 11/2) by a narrow margin that day but the fourth looked the most inconvenienced by how the race was run.

Slightly slow jumps at both the third last and second last obstacles meant Jango Baie couldn’t close off a slow pace and the Nicky Henderson trained seven-year-old is unbeaten in his two starts at Cheltenham including a last gasp victory in the Arkle Challenge Trophy last season.

Nicky Henderson won this race with Long Run in 2011 and Bobs Worth in 2013 and he has already rewarded these owners with a festival winner this year with Jingko Blue in the newly sponsored Bet MGM Cup on Wednesday. Jango Baie looks the leading contender with four places available.

Jango Baie 11/2 (0.5pt ew)
