MLB Odds: Ohtani the Most Backed to Win AL MVP

Fans and bettors have become quite accustomed to a certain Los Angeles Angels player going home with the AL MVP award.
Outfielder Mike Trout has won three of the last six AL MVP awards and is the favorite again this year. Even so, this year it’s Trout’s teammate, Shohei Ohtani, that is getting most of the attention from bettors ahead of the 2020 season.

If there is a player that is going to dethrone Trout, Ohtani is as good of a pick as any. He’s the only power hitter and power arm in the Majors, and his ability to swing the bat and hit triple digits on the radar gun gives him twice as many ways to impact a game.
Trout, is currently the overwhelming favorite to repeat as AL MVP. His +195 odds imply a 33.9% chance of winning. Meanwhile, the second favorite, Aaron Judge, sits at +950, giving him a 9.5% chance of taking home the hardware.
