Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs)
The last time we saw Wilder in the ring was nearly a year ago to the day, as he lost via KO to Tyson Fury in October of last year. Fury stopped him in 11 rounds after recovering from two knockdowns, ending their three-fight series with a record of 2-0-1.
The strongest puncher in the sport, potentially ever, had held the WBC heavyweight belt for 12 fights, from 2015 until his knockout loss to Fury in their rematch in 2020, making him one of the longest-reigning champions at any weight. At the age of 36, he is currently starting a new phase in his career, with a chance for a fourth fight against Fury all but closed.
Robert Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs)
Helenius is a living example of how persistence in this sport can be fruitful. Two spectacular knockouts of once-hot young heavyweight Adam Kownacki in 2020 and on the Fury-Wilder card a year ago, which highlighted his own immense striking power, helped the Finn fight through a bothersome shoulder ailment and a string of discouraging defeats to return to title contention.
Following a July 2019 loss to Gerald Washington, all looked to be in the tank for Helenius before the two knockouts vs. Kownacki and one vs. Mateus Roberto Osorio. In fact, you have to go all the way back to August 2018 (six fights ago) for the last time a fight of his went to the judge's scorecard.
