Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Deji Prediction
One of the biggest draws in the history of boxing will step back into a ring on Sunday in Dubai, fighting in his sixth exhibition fight since retiring from the sport in 2017. Now 45 years old, Mayweather Jr. will be fighting someone 25 years his junior in this one, YouTuber Deji Olatunji.
While this fight isn’t even on the radar of most serious boxing fans, it is on the radar of those who love the betting action, as the YouTube star has some serious underdog odds. Let’s take a closer look at both fighters and how this one might play out on the streaming service DAZN on Sunday afternoon.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs)
In the five exhibition fights that Mayweather Jr. has fought in since beating Conor McGregor and finishing 50-0 as a professional, Mayweather Jr. has “won” all five. Only two of those fights, however, were officially scored, both coming in Japan at the Saitama Super Arena against relatively unknown mixed martial artists (boxing rules).
This will also be Mayweather Jr.’s second fight against a YouTuber, the first taking down Logan Paul in June of 2021, though it was never officially scored. Standing at 5’8”, Mayweather Jr. will be at a slight size disadvantage, just as he was for most of his professional career.
Deji Olatunji (1-0, 1 KOs)
A YouTube star turned actor, turned musician, turned amateur, turned “professional” boxer; there is one thing “Deji” doesn’t lack - star power. Coming into the ring Sunday 20 years younger than his opponent, the England native will also have a noticeable size advantage in this one.
The younger brother of YouTube star KSI, Deji followed him on the boxing route as well but has so far been way less successful. After losing all three fights as an amateur, Deji did, however, win his first professional fight vs. Yousef Saleh Erakat (YouTuber) in August. Participating in three co-main events, Sunday will mark the first main event for Deji, and first against a real, albeit old, professional boxer.
Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs Deji Olatunji Odds
While the odds are still limited for this fight given the mismatch, as expected, Mayweather Jr. opened up as a massive -2000 favorite, with Deji coming in around +750. Since then, the odds have mostly remained the same, as they can’t go much higher without drawing zero support on the favorite in this one.
Given its exhibition status, don’t expect to see a ton of line movement on this one.
