The second Pay-Per-View (PPV) UFC event of the year goes off Saturday night in Anaheim, CA, as this card is stacked from top to bottom. In the main event, Alexander Volkanovski will put his unbeaten featherweight record (and belt) on the line against the up-and-coming killer Ilia Topuria.
Before we get there, however, four other main event cards offer fight fans some of the best matchups of the year. Starting us off, a pair of middleweight contender hopefuls Anthony Hernandez and Roman Kopylov will go at it to settle their differences once and for all.
Let’s dive into both fighter's recent runs, where the odds market has settled, and what to expect when things are said and done in the first fight of the UFC 298 main card.

Anthony Hernandez vs. Roman Kopylov UFC 298 Prediction
Anthony Hernandez (11-2-0)
With four straight wins coming into Saturday following a lackluster 1-2 start, Hernandez already has some big names under his belt including Marc-Andre Barriualt, Josh Fremd, and Edmen Shabhazyan. A DWCS graduate, Hernandez has three finishes in his last four fights and is likely to put it on Kopylov early and often in this one.

Roman Kopylov (12-2-0)
Joining the UFC in 2021, a loss to Albert Duraev, Kopylove comes into this fight on a four-fight win streak as well, all of which have come inside the distance. Also knocking off Fremd during his run, Kopylove has wins over the combined 21-5 Punahele Soriano and Claudio Ribeiro.
Anthony Hernandez vs. Roman Kopylov Pick
For my money, I don’t see Kopylov being able to keep up with the ferocious pace of Hernandez in this fight. While the striking metrics are relatively even, the ground is where Hernandez pulls away, with 13x the takedowns per 15 minutes and 3x the submission average. Kopylov might be able to keep this upright initially, but look for Hernandez to drag him down and finish this one on the mat.
