Conor McGregor Career Record and Highlights

McGregor’s most famous achievement came in 2016, when he knocked out Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 to become the first fighter in UFC history to hold titles in two divisions at the same time. That lightweight title win came after he had already captured the featherweight belt with a 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo, still one of the most iconic finishes in championship history.

His notable UFC wins include Aldo, Alvarez, Dustin Poirier, Chad Mendes, Nate Diaz, Donald Cerrone and Holloway. The Holloway win came back in 2013, when McGregor defeated him by unanimous decision in just his second UFC appearance.

The losses tell the other side of McGregor’s career. He was submitted by Diaz in 2016 before winning the rematch, submitted by Khabib Nurmagomedov in their 2018 lightweight title fight, and then lost twice to Poirier in 2021. The second Poirier loss came when McGregor suffered a severe leg injury at UFC 264.

McGregor’s resume also includes an interim featherweight title, undisputed featherweight title, undisputed lightweight title and a former Cage Warriors two-division championship run before he entered the UFC. Even after years away from active competition, his name remains tied to some of the biggest fights, biggest gates and biggest pay-per-view events in MMA history.

The Holloway rematch now becomes a legacy checkpoint. McGregor is no longer the rising featherweight who beat Holloway in 2013, and Holloway is no longer the young contender still finding his way. UFC 329 will show whether McGregor still has enough timing, power and durability to add another major win to one of the sport’s most famous records.
