NFL Coach of the Year Odds: Mike McDaniel's Stock Rises After Upset Win Over Bills

How about those Miami Dolphins? In Week 2 of the NFL season, the Miami Dolphins impressed with an insane comeback to beat the Baltimore Ravens in the fourth quarter. They followed that up with another impressive performance beating Buffalo 21-19 to move to 3-0 and first place.

Mike McDaniel has this offense in high gear and Tua Tagovailoa looks like the player they thought he was when they selected him in the first round three years ago. The Dolphins' surprise 3-0 start has McDaniel's name towards the top of the NFL Coach of the Year odds.

Here's a deep dive into the odds and where he stands after three games this year.

Mike McDaniel +500 (Bet $100 to win $500)

When Mike McDaniel was hired, his biggest job was to get the most out of Tua Tagovailoa. You have to know what you have in your young quarterback and so far, it's the best he's ever looked in the NFL. He's averaging 308.3 yards per game, has eight touchdowns and a league-leading 82.8 QBR.

Many questioned if Tua would be able to get the ball down the field to Tyreek Hill but so far the Hill and Jaylen Waddle combination has combined for 659 yards and six touchdowns. It's worked wonders.

Moving on from Brian Flores was a questionable decision by the Miami Dolphins but so far, Mike McDaniel very much so looks the part.

Nick Sirianni +300 (Bet $100 to win $300)

Speaking of year three quarterbacks, Jalen Hurts was in a similar boat to Tua before the season. Both needed to prove that they were franchise guys going forward and look at what Nick Sirianni has gotten out of Hurts this year.

The Eagles are 3-0 and Hurts has four touchdowns through the air, three on the ground, and he's averaging 305.3 passing yards per game. Philadelphia looks like a juggernaut right now and a lot of it has to do with how Hurts is playing and the coaching of Nick Sirianni.

The 2021 Eagles surprised people by winning nine games and making the playoffs as a wild card. This year, they should cakewalk through that division and they have a real shot to do some damage in the playoffs.
