NFL MVP Power Rankings: Breaking Down the Field After Week 3

The NFL MVP Front Runners

Josh Allen (+300)

The man of the people of Buffalo! He has been an absolute stud since he entered the league, and the whole NFL is expecting him and the Bills to take that next big step to become kings of the AFC this season. Having their season taken away by a coin flip last season has them pissed off, and he has come out of the gates strong.

Allen has 1014 passing yards in the first three games, on a 71.2% completion percentage and has thrown for nine touchdowns. This year started off with him picking apart the defending champions, in a 31-10 win and he has looked strong since. He increased his passing yards in each of the last three games and is poised to bounce back from a tough loss to Miami last time out.

Lamar Jackson (+500)

Is anyone else getting flashbacks? Lamar has had an amazing start to this year and has two 100 yard rushing games out of the gates. His defense let him down, in what should otherwise be a 3-0 start, but Lamar looks to be on Allen's heels all year long. He has kept the interceptions down and looks to have a connection with Rashod Bateman. This could be really fun to watch when he takes on Allen next week.

I know this is a small sample size, but comparing this year to his 2019 MVP Season, he is averaging more Air Yards per Attempt, has a higher QBR, and has more yards per attempt. If he keeps it up, it will be tough to not choose him as MVP. Great value here.

On the Cusp of NFL MVP

Jalen Hurts (+600)

Early returns on not drafting a QB and trading for AJ Brown look amazing for the Eagles. While bringing in a star helps, the level he is playing is not possible without him taking serious strides this offseason. He looks like the prospect that Nick Saban and Lincoln Riley saw in college. Let's hope he can keep it up!

Patrick Mahomes (+700)

The $500 Million Man will always be in this discussion. When the Chiefs traded Tyreek Hill, people were fast to write them off, but Pat Mahomes has shown that when his teammates execute, he still has the magic. He has a matchup with Tom Brady this week, and the last time he faced him, he had 462 yards and 3 TD, so keep your eyes on that game.

NFL MVP Value Bets

Justin Herbert (+1600)

The upside is there, he has flashed as much skill as anyone at the position since he entered the league. Watch his status with his rib injury, but if he heals soon, this could be looked at as a steal of a play.

Trevor Lawrence (+3000)

One of the most hyped prospects in a long time in the NFL, Lawrence had a trying rookie year, but he showed flashes. The team invested in players around him, including getting him an NFL version of how he used Amari Rodgers at Clemson. He may not win it this year, but this may be the last time he is this low on the board for a decade.

Saquon Barkley (+15000)

My dark horse pick, he looks as healthy as ever. He is showing the burst from his rookie year that earned him to be a #2 overall pick. With the confidence he is showing, there is extreme value in one of the most skilled players in the entire league.
