Bennett is currently expected to go undrafted at the 2023 NFL Draft, with sportsbooks offering +150 odds or an implied 40% chance. However, it’s worth noting that the sportsbooks say that the 2023 College Football champion has at least a 10% chance to go in any round other than the first or second. He has +800 odds, or an implied 11.1% chance to be drafted in the third round.
Sportsbooks say that Bennett has a small chance to squeeze into Day 2 but he won’t go higher than the third round. He is given +2500 odds, or an implied 3.8% chance to go in the second round. Meanwhile, betting on the first round is locked because of how unlikely the books see it.
Bennett will be 25 years old on draft night. No quarterback that old has gone in the first or second round of the draft since Brandon Weeden back in 2012. NFL teams don’t like older prospects, especially ones without a pedigree, and he was a walk-on. Perhaps he will impress teams enough to be drafted during the combine, but even that’s a dubious claim according to sportsbooks. The sportsbooks believe he has a lot of work to do this offseason to try and convince teams to take a chance on him.
