2023 NFL Draft Odds: Quentin Johnston The Favorite to be First WR Taken

The 2023 wide receiver class is not considered as strong as in years past. Some draft analysts have said that no wide receivers could go top 20. If that happens, it’d be the first time since 2019, when Hollywood Brown went 25th. So in this weaker class, who could be the top WR? The books have their eyes on TCU’s Quentin Johnston.

2023 NFL Draft Odds: Wide Receivers

Johnston is given +175 odds, or an implied 36.4% chance to be the first wide receiver off the board. Jordan Addison is expected to be his biggest competition at +250, or an implied 28.6% chance.

You shouldn’t count out Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Jalin Hyatt though. JSN is given +350 odds, or an implied 22.2% chance, while Hyatt is given +375 odds, or an implied 21.1% chance. Zay Flowers is pulling up the rear at +500, or an implied 16.7% chance to be the first wide receiver drafted.

This draft class may not be as strong as the last three years, but wide receiver has become one of the safest positions to draft in the NFL. Teams have gotten so good at scouting the position that a bust, especially in the first round, has become a rarity. For that reason alone it’d be shocking to see wide receivers drop come draft day. So with that in mind, it’s certainly worth keeping an eye on these five wide receivers. They could be your team’s new WR1.
