The Buffalo Bills hosted the Denver Broncos on Monday Night Football last night, in what amounted to a must-win game for Josh Allen and the Bills.
Instead of coming up clutch at home in a bounce back spot at home, the Bills turned it over four times, and essentially gift-wrapped the game to the Broncos through penalties and miscues.
One week after falling short to the Bengals on Sunday Night Football, the Bills have now lost two straight games for the first time all year, and are squarely in danger of missing the playoffs for the first time since 2018.
As a result of the disastrous losses with limited offensive production, they have now fired their offensive coordinator, Ken Dorsey. Can Josh Allen and the talented Bills turn it around and get back to their winning ways? Or is this season a lost cause with the continued miscues? Let's take a look at the latest odds for the Buffalo Bills to make the playoffs.
Bills Playoff Odds
The Bills now hold underdog odds of +200 to make the playoffs, giving them just a 33.3% chance to make a comeback and continue their four year appearance streak.
Buffalo's win total is also all the way down at 8.5, after starting the season at 11.5. They have won 10 or more games in each of the last four seasons, but with the remaining schedule, it doesn't look like that will be repeated in 2023.
It doesn't get any easier for the Bills, as they face a gauntlet of upcoming games. They will take on the turnover machine New York Jets defense next week, who they already lost to in Week 1. Following that, it is almost all playoff teams down the stretch for Buffalo.
They face the Eagles, Chiefs, and Cowboys all in a row. That trio makes up three of the top-six teams leading the current Super Bowl odds, and it is increasingly plausible that Buffalo could drop each contest.
The only "break" the team gets is against the Chargers and Patriots, which could hardly be considered gimme games. They already lost to the Patriots this year, and the Chargers have a high-powered offense that is searching for a second half resurgence and a playoff appearance.
To top it all off, the Bills close out the season on the road in Miami against one of the best offenses in the NFL. The Dolphins are hungry for revenge after falling short in a shootout earlier this year, and the Bills may not be able to stop them this time around.
If the Bills are going to turn it around, Josh Allen and the offense will have to do a better job taking care of the football. Monday night's loss was Allen's 24th game with multiple turnovers, which leads the league since his arrival in 2018. 10 of those games were 3+ turnovers, which is tied with Baker Mayfield for most in the league in that same span.
Those stats aren't very encouraging for Bills fans, as they have continued to fall short in close games due to Allen's turnover bug in the last year and a half. Despite the plethora of talent on their roster, they have failed to get over the hump in the playoffs, and could now miss it entirely this year.
