Most football fans are familiar with the offensive players in the NFL. But the knowledge starts to lack when you ask fans about the defensive side of the ball.
I'm here to refresh your memory. Below, we'll break down the top five defensive players in Super Bowl 58.
Rankings Top 5 Defensive Players in the Super Bowl
5. Dre Greenlaw, LB, 49ers
Dre Greenlaw is everything for this 49ers defense. He played 15 games this season and added 120 total tackles.
Then, in the postseason, Greenlaw has two interceptions, two pass deflections, a half of stuff, and 15 total tackles. He's enjoying the spotlight and has played even better when it matters the most.
4. Trent McDuffie, CB, Chiefs
Trent McDuffie didn't have an interception this season at cornerback. But that doesn't always tell the whole picture.
He played 16 games this season and added 80 total tackles with three sacks and five forced fumbles. He also deflected seven passes and added 1.5 stuffs this year.
In the postseason he's already recovered a fumble this season and has four pass deflections in three games in the playoffs.
McDuffie made the AP NFL All-Pro team this season for his efforts.
3. Nick Bosa, EDGE, 49ers
Nick Bosa is a former AP NFL Defensive Player of the Year. He won that honor for the 2022-2023 season.
He didn't do enough to win the award this year. However, he finished with 53 total tackles and 10.5 sacks this season. He added four pass deflections and forced two fumbles. He also recovered a fumble.
The Chiefs' offensive line will have their hands full against Nick Bosa. And by hands full, I mean they'll likely hold on to his jersey for dear life.
Bosa is a game-changer on the defensive line. Look out for No. 97 on the 49ers.

2. Fred Warner, LB, 49ers
Fred Warner leads the 49ers defense at the linebacker position. He added 132 total tackles, 2.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, and four interceptions this season.
Warner also deflected 11 passes and added 11 stuffs in 17 games this year.
Last year, ESPN ranked Warner as the biggest defensive draft steal in the past decade.
Warner is a BYU product who was drafted 70th overall in the third round by the Niners. Ever since he was drafted, he's been on the field leading the 49ers. He's also a three-time first-team All-Pro.
1. Chris Jones, DT, Chiefs
At the beginning of the season, none of us were sure if we'd even see Chris Jones play football this season.
Eventually, he ended his holdout and got a one-year deal worth $25 million to play for the Chiefs this year.
He'll be looking to make up to $85 million on a four-year contract after this season is over. That's how good of a player Jones is. But he just had to prove it one last time to get what he wants.
Jones is only 29 years old, but earned 10.5 sacks and four pass deflections in 16 games for the Chiefs this season. Statistically, he was better last season. However, Jones is still the best defensive tackle in the game.
He gambled on himself, and it paid off in a big way. A Super Bowl ring could only help his situation more.
