Super Bowl Public Betting Splits, Sharp Money Breakdown, Latest Line Movement

The Kansas City Chiefs are aiming for their third straight Super Bowl victory on Sunday night, but are bettors backing them to pull it off? As the Big Game approaches, the point spread continues to tighten. In many sportsbooks, the line has shifted to Chiefs -1 (-105) and -115 on the moneyline.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have thrived in close matchups, boasting an 8-0 record against the spread and straight up when listed as a slight favorite or underdog in the playoffs. With heavy wagers coming in on the Eagles throughout the week, the line movement makes sense—but will we see late money swing back to the Chiefs before kickoff?

Let’s break down the latest line shifts and betting trends as we get ready for Chiefs vs. Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Super Bowl LIX Public Betting Splits

One way to measure the opinion of sports fans and bettors is to monitor the public betting data ahead of a big game to see where the majority of action is happening. According to our oddschecker+ Betting Splits Tool, the public betting data is exhibiting some big money on Philadelphia so far. We are seeing 55% of the bets on the Chiefs moneyline, but just 42% of the handle backing it up. Bettors are loving the plus-money option that Philly brings at +105, where 58% of the money lies. It's a similar story as of Friday evening at most sportsbooks, with mid-50's percent of tickets on the Chiefs, while a lesser amount of money rides with the current favorite.

Those overall betting splits are largely divided with a slight skew to Nick Sirianni's team, and that's because there are some big money wagers that have come in on the Eagles. BetMGM Sportsbook has announced their largest bet so far of $800,000 on Eagles ML (+110), as well as another $750,000 on the ML, and $300K on Philly First Half +0.5. The biggest Chiefs wager so far pales in comparison, at a measly $320,000 on KC ML -130. A terrible price we might add, compared to what has become available.

Super Bowl LIX Line Movement

As noted above, the Chiefs were -125 on the opener, and ballooned as high as -132 at some sportsbooks in the first week. Now, that line has crashed back down towards -115, and if the trend continues, we could be closing in on a dead-even kickoff. ESPN Bet briefly reduced to a PK on Friday afternoon, before bouncing back to Chiefs -1.

On that trend, with all those big bets on the Eagles, there are some Chiefs whales likely lurking in the shadows as they wait for the best price. As soon as they start finding -110 and -115 on the ML, they will likely begin hammering that early on game day, trying to squeeze most of the juice out of the line before dropping a bomb. It is highly unlikely for this line to flip all the way to Philadelphia as favorites, but stranger things have happened. Keep an eye on those late Chiefs bets as the price watching continues.
