Ashton Jeanty had a year to remember last season with Boise State. The Broncos' star running back averaged seven yards per carry on 374 carries. He added 2,601 yards rushing and earned 29 touchdowns on the ground.
It wasn't enough to pass Travis Hunter for the Heisman Award. But it was enough to get Boise State in the College Football Playoff. That's an incredible achievement in itself, especially since only one non-Power four school makes the CFP.
Jeanty only played three seasons with the Broncos. He would have been a senior this upcoming season, but he chose to enter the NFL Draft anyway and forgo his final year of eligibility.
And why wouldn't you? Jeanty is projected to be a top-12 pick in this year's NFL Draft and was the runner-up for the most recent Heisman Award. He's taking advantage of his success now, which is clearly the right move.

Ashton Jeanty Draft Odds: Projected Team, Position, Latest Odds
Many mock draft experts believe Ashton Jeanty will be drafted in the top 10. In addition, the sportsbooks feel the same way.
Jeanty is +400 to go over 6.5 in draft position and -450 to go under 6.5. The sportsbooks suggest that he has a 61% chance of being drafted with the fifth pick in the NFL Draft.
However, Jeanty is unlikely to be drafted with the first three picks. The Titans are zeroing in on Cam Ward, and the Browns will likely add Travis Hunter.
With the third pick, the Giants could use some help at running back, but will likely use their pick on Abdul Carter or trade down. If the Giants traded down, there could be a quarterback drafted at No. 3, but ultimately, Jeanty wouldn't be the pick there, either.
It's also unlikely the Patriots draft a running back with their No. 4 pick. New England can go with an offensive tackle or get some defensive help. But it's unlikely they'll go after Jeanty here, either.
That said, some experts project Jeanty to be selected by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 5th pick. If the Jaguars don't select Jeanty, likely, the Las Vegas Raiders will actually add Jeanty with the 6th pick of the NFL Draft.
In addition, if the Raiders really want Jeanty and feel like the Jaguars could steal him, Las Vegas could trade the Patriots for that No. 4 pick and draft Jeanty at four. It's a legitimate possibility.
As of now, the Jaguars are -175 to draft Jeanty, while the Raiders are +380. The sportsbooks believe the Jaguars will draft Jeanty with the fifth pick.
