The Aaron Rodgers experiment in New York was a massive failure, and they'll now start from scratch again in 2025. Aaron Glenn takes over as head coach, with Steve Wilks arriving as defensive coordinator and Darren Mougey at general manager.
The Jets were expected to make a deep playoff run in 2023, before Rodgers was hurt on the first snap. Then, 2024 came around with renewed optimism and an allegedly healthy Rodgers, but the offensive line was dismal, and continuous errors got them off to a 2-5 start that quickly became 3-10. The wheels completely fell off in a few close losses, and Robert Saleh was fired in the midst of it.
They did turn a few heads in their first preseason game against the Packers, and we'll see them again this weekend against the Giants as a +3 underdog. It'll be a great opportunity for rookies to earn a spot, and this coaching unit to test out new schemes.
With a fresh staff and new quarterback in Justin Fields, the Jets will try to turn it around in 2025, but it won't be easy. They have one of the hardest schedules in the NFL, front-loaded with talented opponents. Can they make a splash this season with a few upsets, or will it be a major rebuilding year? New York Jets Super Bowl Odds
The New York Jets are one of the biggest long shots to win the Super Bowl, and their window of the last two seasons is thoroughly closed. The optimism from Aaron Rodgers is gone, and the fans aren't even getting delusional about their prospects this year. The Jets faithful are mostly hoping they aren't the worst team in the NFL, but also know it's a rebuilding period and want to be in good draft position next April.
That is reflected in their +25000 Super Bowl odds, ahead of only the Browns and Saints. It would take a miracle for them to run the table, and they already only have a 16% chance of making the playoffs as seen below.

New York Jets Win Total Odds
The Jets had a win total of 9.5 last year, which seems absurd looking back at it. But they really were expected to compete, and the books are not going to make the same mistake this time around. The Jets missed their number by a -4.5 differential in 2024, the furthest miss outside of the 49ers and Browns at -5.5.
New York is sitting at a 5.5 total now, juiced to the under at -135 odds. We've seen a decent amount of Justin Fields over the years, but he hasn't quite shown the ability to carry a team. Starting off with the Bills, Bucs, Dolphins and Cowboys, there's a decent chance this squad doesn't win a game until mid-October against the Carolina Panthers. If that's the case, this total is plummeting under.

New York Jets Odds To Make the Playoffs
The Jets are +520 to make the playoffs even after their first preseason game, while they are -800 to miss it. That's just a 16% chance to make it in Aaron Glenn's first season, and they have the fourth-worst odds of the entire NFL, ahead of only the Giants, Saints, and Browns.
It's a far cry from where New York sat a year or two ago, with the Aaron Rodgers hype expected to propel them into a Super Bowl contender. Those days are gone, and owner Woody Johnson cleaned house last year, bringing in an all-new coaching staff and GM.
While Justin Fields is expected to be serviceable, he's probably not going to be able to lead this unit to the playoffs in its current form. The Jets are clearly rebuilding, and it will take some time before they are able to make some postseason moves.

New York Jets AFC East Division Odds
The New York Jets are not winning the AFC East, plain and simple. No one was going to argue for that anyway, but the odds would but it to rest if they did. The Jets are back at +1800 odds, a clear fourth place to Bills (-280), Patriots (+650), and Dolphins (+900).
You can see from the odds that the Patriots have leap-frogged the Dolphins in an interesting move this year, with sportsbooks believing in the revamped Mike Vrabel squad led by Drake Maye. They're also starting to give up on Mike McDaniel and Tua Tagovailoa, who have seemingly regressed after several promising seasons faltered towards the end.
None of that matters for the Jets, who will just try to compete and survive in the early going of their schedule. If you look further down in the season specials section of this article, you can see the Jets going 6-0 in the AFC East is +15000 odds, a 0.7% chance. That's how much respect they are getting this time around.
