PGA Power Rankings: Top 5 for The Genesis Invitational

PGA Power Rankings: Top 5 for The Genesis Invitational
This week's Genesis Invitational will crown a new champion because Joaquin Niemann, currently employed by LIV Golf, won the competition last year. With the win, Niemann became the first champion in 53 years to win from start to finish after firing a final-round score of 71.
The big news is that Tiger Woods, a 15-time major champion, will take part in the competition, which he is hosting. Since Tiger is Tiger, you can be sure that he would not be putting the ball in play unless he felt prepared. But the hard truth is that simply cutting will be a victory for the GOAT.
A top-notch field, led by Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, and the tournament's favorite Jon Rahm, is traveling to Riviera, for what should be a fantastic field.

The Genesis Invitational Course - Riviera Country Club
Riviera Country Club in California is a 7,322 yards Par 71 which has long been regarded as among the greatest courses in the world that was created to test every aspect of a player's game. The Genesis Invitational will be held at the George C. Thomas Jr. and William P. Bell-designed facility for the 60th time this year, and many more significant events, such as the 2026 U.S. Women's Open and the 2028 Olympic Golf Competition, will follow.
The Genesis Invitational Power Rankings
1. Jon Rahm (+850) Bet $100 to collect $850 DraftKings has the best odds, click here to bet
The Spaniard had a chance to win the Farmers Insurance Open at Torrey Pines for a third time after winning the Tournament of Champions and American Express so far this season and will look to build on that success here.
2. Rory McIlroy (+1000) Bet $100 to collect $1,000 DraftKings has the best odds, click here to bet
The way things have started this season, I could see Rahm and McIlroy going head-to-head in almost every major tournament. Following up on Rahm’s wins thus far, McIlroy answered by winning the Dubai Desert Classic even though, according to him, he wasn't near the top of his game.
3. Scottie Scheffler (+1100) Bet $100 to collect $1,200 DraftKings has the best odds, click here to bet
The world's No. 1 for much of 2022, it had been a quiet start for Scheffler until storming away with the Phoenix Open last week in Scottsdale. With confidence again in his putter, looking for him to contend again here.
4. Justin Thomas (+1600) Bet $100 to collect $1,600 FanDuel has the best odds, click here to bet
As erratic as Justin Thomas is, there aren't many elite TOUR players on his level when clicking. The majority of the top-end players in the world rankings are there as a result of their consistency from week to week.
Thomas will, in contrast, produce exceptional work for extended periods before becoming inconsistent. He scored 67-65 to move into a solo fourth-place finish at the TPC Scottsdale over the weekend, suggesting that he may have emerged from one of those slumps.
5. Tony Finau (+1800) Bet $100 to collect $1,800 FanDuel has the best odds, click here to bet
In one of the better Genesis Invitationals in recent memory, Finau went to a playoff here in 2021 vs. Max Homa, finishing -12 in regulation after playing terrific on Friday/Saturday. Following another strong start to the season, I expect success here.
